"I [Brandon] wanted something related to space because the idea of space always fascinated me, so I thought of things related to space and the Big Bang and Beryllium stood out and I liked it." 

I [Enrique] think I came out of math class and he came down the hall from science and told me the name and I was like "Dude that's way better than Asphodel and Zenith!" Haha, those names sucked. Plus its the fourth element and there's four of us, etc, it was just a perfect fit."

"I drew the logo myself. It didn't really come from anywhere in particular, I kind of just thought of it." - Brandon

"A couple weeks later all four of us brought the logo to our art teacher and made the final copy of our logo, Since it was the end of the day and we almost missed our buses, Enrique quickly scribbled the name on the top and then we had our band." - Joseph

"Well Brandon and I [Enrique] jammed in my basement for my "audition" to be in this band he was trying to put together with his friend Michael. I told Brandon I have a friend who plays bass and can finish the line up. Two months go by and at the 8th grade Sock Hop, the school asked us to play since we told everyone were in a band. But we didn't even have a name, we didn't even practice once! We were there sitting on the side of the stage shaking, figuring out which Nirvana song we all knew and winged it. It was a trip. I think we knew then we had something going."
